The finals of the 2025 Billie Jean King Cup are set to take place from Sept. 16 to 21 at the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center, promising a thrilling spectacle of international women’s team tennis.

The draw ceremony, held on May 12 in Shenzhen, revealed the exciting quarterfinal matchups for this year’s highly anticipated event.

In a dramatic opening round, the host Chinese team will face a tough challenge against the defending champions, Italy. If victorious, China will then encounter the winner of the match between Spain and Ukraine in the semi-finals. In the other half of the draw, the U.S. team will take on Kazakhstan, while the U.K. team will face Japan in their opening round matches.

The quarterfinals will feature a total of eight teams, including defending champions Italy, host nation China, and six additional teams that have successfully advanced from the qualifying rounds. The competition format follows a best-of-three system, consisting of two singles matches and one doubles match, with the overall match winner determined by securing two victories.

This marks the first time the prestigious Billie Jean King Cup, the women’s international team competition in tennis, will be held in China, with Nanshan chosen as the host.
