The Shekou Border Inspection Station in Nanshan District experienced a significant increase in inbound and outbound traffic during the National Day holiday, with over 84,000 personnel passing through, marking a 9.1% rise compared to the same period last year.
Additionally, the station inspected more than 1,100 inbound and outbound ships, highlighting the bustling cross-border activity.
The peak of this travel rush was observed on October 4th, when the border inspection station processed a record 13,000 entry and exit personnel in a single day, the highest count during the holiday period.
Chinese mainland residents emerged as the predominant force in outbound tourism from the Shekou Cruise Center. In the three days of the National Day holiday, over 23,000 mainland residents departed from the Shekou Cruise Center, showcasing a 16.1% increase from the previous year.
Popular destinations among these travelers included Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, as well as China’s Hong Kong and Macao regions.
The Shenzhen-Hong Kong airport route also saw a notable surge in passengers choosing to travel abroad. The passenger and liner occupancy rates for this route exceeded 95%.
Enhanced security measures and streamlined border crossing procedures had been implemented to accommodate the increased traffic, according to the station.
