The organizing committee of the Shenzhen Nanshan Half Marathon has officially announced, via its WeChat account, that the eagerly anticipated 2024 event will kick off on Dec. 15. Further details regarding registration and the race route will be disclosed in the coming weeks.

Since its inception in 2015, the Nanshan Half Marathon has carved out a distinguished niche in the running community. Over the past 10 years, the event has distinguished itself with top-notch organization and an esteemed reputation, earning its place as a staple on the calendars of Shenzhen’s running enthusiasts. It has also risen in prominence to become one of the nation’s most influential half marathon races.

In 2017, the Nanshan Half Marathon was recognized as one of the top ten local sports brands in Shenzhen. Then, in 2019, it was honored with the gold medal award by the Chinese Athletics Association. Marking a significant milestone, in February 2024, the event was granted the prestigious badge by the World Athletics, signifying its inclusion in the global elite of road running events.

This accolade coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Nanshan Half Marathon, further cementing its status as a landmark event in the running world. The race route thoughtfully weaves through Nanshan’s landmarks, including the bustling high-tech park, the prestigious headquarters area in Houhai, the scenic coastline of Shenzhen Bay, and the tranquil Xili Lake area, offering participants a firsthand glimpse of Nanshan’s distinctive allure.
