On the special occasion of the 44th anniversary of the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone on Aug. 26, a symposium on enterprises going global was held in Nanshan District.
Focusing on promoting high-quality “going global” for enterprises, representatives from the government, enterprises, and academia gathered together to seek new opportunities for development. Huang Xiangyue, Party chief of Nanshan District, attended the meeting.
As a well-known economic and technological powerhouse and an innovation hub in China, Nanshan has not only nurtured world-renowned enterprises such as Tencent, DJI, and ZTE, but also a group of high-growth small and medium-sized enterprises that have embarked on the journey of going global to tap into the international market.
Based on the needs of enterprises, Nanshan is actively exploring the establishment of a “Headquarters Enterprises Overseas Alliance” to help enterprises to better go global.
At the symposium, experts, think tanks, service organizations, and representatives of enterprises discussed the opportunities and challenges of companies going global from different dimensions, and provided suggestions for building an international cooperative platform that integrates information sharing, resource integration, and service support.
Wu Guangyu, president of Dun & Bradstreet Group in China, introduced the main focus of enterprises going global based on case studies of serving Chinese enterprises. We said that firms going global focuses more on the needs of business compliance assurance, supply chain security, financing, cash flow, and payment collection.
It is suggested that Nanshan take measures such as launching the maturity index plan for enterprises going global and holding the going global summit to help enterprises solve the difficulties of going global.
The Middle East is one of the main regions for Shenzhen enterprises to go global. Chen Dingding, the vice president of the Belt and Road and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Research Institute, suggested that enterprises should make sufficient market research in advance during the going global process, fully understand the local laws and regulations, cultural background, business environment, consumption habits, and attach importance to legal operation to better identify and resolve risks.
“Not all enterprises are suitable to going global, and the destination for going global needs to be carefully selected,” Li Mingbo, vice president and secretary general of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Research Institute in Guangzhou.
Li suggested that the government can leverage the power of State-owned assets to explore the establishment of industrial parks overseas and establish funds to make it easier for enterprises to go global.
Huang expresses sincere gratitude to all the representatives of enterprises, experts and scholars for their suggestions. He said that since the beginning of this year, the district’s exports have improved, and there is a strong demand for enterprises to go global.
According to Huang, Nanshan gathers wisdom and efforts to explore the establishment of a professional, systematic, one-stop “going global alliance,” and creates the preferred destination for firms to go global. He hopes that enterprises can adhere to the principle of equality, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, actively go global, seek new growth, and strive to take the lead in global competition.
