A meeting focusing on the development and construction of the University Town of Shenzhen was convened at the International Conference Center within the University Town on the afternoon of July 16.

Huang Xiangyue, secretary of the Nanshan District Party Committee, presided over the meeting. Huang underscored the necessity to intensify comprehensive reforms, and to elevate the operation and management of the university town to meet high standards.

Huang advocated for the integration of the innovation, industry, capital, and talent chains to bolster the high-quality development of the X-Lake Sciensity and efforts to solidify Nanshan’s pioneering role in realizing Chinese modernization.

Nestled within the X-Lake Sciensity, the university town is a hub for several esteemed educational institutions, including Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School, Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen, Southern University of Science and Technology, and Shenzhen University’s Xili campus.

Following the directives of the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government, the governance and service authority of the university town has been transferred to Nanshan District.

In response, Nanshan has synchronized local needs with academic resources, sought counsel and innovative ideas, and orchestrated a brainstorming session with experts, scholars, and department heads. This initiative aimed to strengthen the operational and administrative fabric of the twon and to pioneer new synergies between educational institutions and urban development.

Huang highlighted the university town not only boasts a beautiful environment but also congregates universities and innovation platforms. With a full spectrum of production factors and a diverse talent pool, this area is poised to invigorate the innovative momentum and competitive edges of the X-Lake Sciensity.

Huang pledged an unwavering commitment to the operation, management, development, and construction of the university town. With safety as a paramount concern, he also called for the promotion of university openness to society, leading the charge in instrument sharing, credit recognition, and cooperative talent education.

Ahead of the meeting, Huang led a delegation on an inspection tour of the university town to gain insights into the area’s spatial planning, venue operations, campuses, and the services provided by the management service center.
