Nanshan District Government and China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Co. Ltd. (CAERI) signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on May 30.
Huang Xiangyue, Party chief of Nanshan District, Li Xiaoning, deputy Party chief and district mayor, Jian Na, deputy district mayor, Liu Anmin, general manager of CAERI, and Cheng Peipei, director of CAERI, attended the signing ceremony.
According to the agreement, both parties will fully leverage their respective advantages and focus on the field of automotive inspection and testing.
They will build a new ecosystem for the health and value management of vehicles throughout their entire life cycle, promote the construction of a new energy vehicle (NEV) operation safety and health management and testing platform in Shenzhen, and form a local standard system and national testing regulations.
At the signing ceremony, Li said Nanshan will focus on key links such as core component design and R&D, vehicle control systems, intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs), as well as supporting services such as photovoltaics, energy storage, and supercharging, to fully promote the high-quality development of the NEV industry.
Nanshan will work with CAERI to help the company build its Shenzhen headquarters and strive for the establishment of a national regulatory platform for NEVs in Nanshan, according to Li.
Liu stated that Shenzhen has become one of the cities with the most complete NEV industrial chain on a global scale, and is also a competitive city in the NEV and ICV industries.
CAERI is willing to work with Nanshan to open up new opportunities in the intelligent NEV market, promote the transformation and upgrading of Shenzhen’s intelligent NEV and related industries, according to Liu.
Nanshan is a well-known economic and technological powerhouse, as well as an innovation hub in China. Its comprehensive strength has earned it the first spot on the list of the country’s top 100 districts for seven consecutive years.
In 2023, the district’s GDP reached 856.6 billion yuan (US$118.2 billion). The total number of national high-tech enterprises exceeded 5,000, and there were 233 national-level “little giant” enterprises the in the district.
“Little giant” firms are small enterprises that are still in the early stage of development and focus on the new generations of information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy, new materials, biomedicine and other high-end fields.
As a national first-class research institute, CAERI focuses on the three major technical fields of safety, green, and experience in product development, experimental research, quality inspection, and standard formulation.
CAERI has established a technical service layout that covers major automotive industry clusters in the country, and has built multiple key platforms. It has developed into a listed company in the testing industry with an estimated value of over 10 billion yuan.
