Shenzhen started its key projects for the second quarter of 2024 and held a launch ceremony in Nanshan District on May 8.

The newly launched 236 projects involved an investment of approximately 176.65 billion yuan (US$24.4 billion). The planned investment for the year 2024 is about 33.67 billion yuan.

In Nanshan District, there are 42 new projects (excluding projects of the Qianhai Authority), with a total investment of about 34.89 billion yuan and an annual planned investment of 7.28 billion yuan, both of which rank first in the city, according to the district’s development and reform bureau.

The 42 projects can be divided into 15 livelihood projects, 18 industrial projects, seven infrastructure projects, and two real estate projects. Twenty-five projects are funded by private investment, while the remaining 17 projects are funded by the government. 

The Baiwangxin Industrial Park renewal project starts in Nanshan District.

For instance, the Baiwangxin Industrial Park renewal project, situated in the X-Lake Sciensity, boasts a total investment of 19.4 billion yuan. The project, divided into three phases, covers a land area of 176,000 square meters and a total construction area of 1.09 million square meters. 

It currently houses 28 buildings and achieved a total output value of 44.5 billion yuan last year. With plans to integrate residential complexes, new-type factories, and public supporting facilities, the park aims to become a leading high-end manufacturing hub in Shenzhen and is expected to achieve an annual output value exceeding 100 billion yuan.

The Panyu Oilfield Joint Development project in the South China Sea involves an investment of about 3.11 billion yuan. The project encompasses the construction of a new wellhead platform, submarine cables, and associated customs cable systems, all designed to enhance CNOOC’s production capabilities.

The Runya Yituo urban renewal project.

The Runya Yituo urban renewal project, located in Nantou Subdistrict, spans covers a land area of 9,007 square meters and a construction area of 58,009 square meters. It aims to create a high-quality and eco-friendly community.

The Coastal School project.

The Coastal School project in Shekou Subdistrict covers a land area of 26,494 square meters and a construction area of 82,250 square meters. Upon completion, it is expected to accommodate an additional 2,520 more primary and secondary school students.
