Shenzhen Mayor QinWeizhongdelivered the city government’s work report at the opening meeting of the Fifth Session of the Seventh Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress, reviewing the work of 2023 and planning for 2024. 

In 2023, Nanshan District made its fair share of contributions and aimed for new heights in Shenzhen's practice of Chinese modernization. The specifics are as follow:

Commercial projects such asSam's Club flagship in Qianhai were completed.

The X9 Alliance of Universities and Institutes (X9 Alliance)'s reach continued to grow.

Shenzhen innoXincubatedthreestartup companies.

TheXili Lake greenway was fully put into use.

The first batch of 20 “Urban Sixth Façade”pilot upgrading projects, including the Jimu Pavilion of Tanglang Mountain, was completed.

A total of 10 high-quality power supply projects were completed.

Construction on projects such as the Mawan Power Plant’s upgrade ramped up.

The Shenzhen Opera House brokeground.

The Cross-Strait Exchange and Integration Month, the Straits Port City Forum, and the Shenzhen Cultural Heritage Month were successfully held.Two cross-Strait exchange bases were approved to be set up in Nanshan.

Nantou Ancient Town was listed as a national-level tourism and leisure block.

Construction was underway for 13 projects,including the expansion and renovation of the Affiliated Hospital of Southern University of Science and Technology.

In 2024, Nanshan District is poised to scale new heights and showcase the responsibility of Guangdong's leading economic powerhouse. The Nanshan District Government has set forth the following goals for 2024:

Build the Xili Lake International Science and Education City to high standards, fostering the integrated development of science, education, research, industry, and application.

Support Shenzhen Polytechnic Universityin its endeavor to become a world-leading vocational education institution with Chinese characteristics.

Complete and put into operation the Peng Cheng Laboratory Shibilong Park and the National Third-generation Semiconductor Technology Innovation Center.

Shenzhen innoX will train 70 new entrepreneurial students and incubate at least 15 projects.

Promote Shenzhen High-Tech Zone’s new round of expansion and upgrading.

Accelerate the development and construction of key areas such as the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base.

Build 40 headquarters economy clusters of 10 categories, such as the high-tech enterprise cluster in the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base.

Build world-class commercial districts such as Shenzhen Bayto a high level.

Build international venture capital and investment clusters in Shenzhen Bay.

Complete the construction of the Shenzhen QianhaiShuangjie River Bridge and the Guiwan River Bridge.

Break ground for the Xili High-speed Railway and other projects.

Complete and open the Mawan Cross-Sea Passage and the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base section of Binhai Boulevard; accelerate the progress of the northern extension of Qiaocheng East Road and other projects, and break ground for projects including the northern extension of Shahe East Road.

Put the first phase of the Mawan Power Plant’s upgrade and renovation into operation.

Complete the construction on Shenzhen Bay Culture Park and accelerate the construction onShenzhen Opera House.

Complete the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center renovation and upgrading project.
