Shenzhen enterprise Fantawild Holdings Inc. has risen from fifth place to second with theme park attendance of 85.69 million in 2023, a significant increase of 111% year on year compared to the tourist volume in 2022.
The company, based in Nanshan District, runs more than 40 theme parks in China.
The statistics were from the annual TEA/AECOM Theme Index and Museum Index released recently by the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA), which is the world’s authoritative theme park research organization, and the AECOM Group of the United States.
According to the report, this year marks the return to attendance rankings for all parks and museums. The overall annual attendance of the top 10 theme parks in the world in 2023 has increased significantly by 30% year on year, reaching 512 million, almost the same as 521 million in 2019.
The report mentioned that eight new amusement parks entered the 2023 rankings, all located in China, of which six are operated by Fantawild Holdings Inc. Between 2020 and 2023, Fantawild opened 10 new theme parks, and the number of parks is expected to continue to increase in the future.
In the top 20 theme parks in the Asia Pacific region, seven parks under Fantawild have made it to the top 20 in terms of visitor numbers.
Since the successful launch of the first Fantawild Adventure theme park in 2007, Fantawild has created over 10 theme park brands. It is the only enterprise in China with the ability to create, develop, construct, and operate the entire industry chain of theme parks.
